As a child, there was no better place than my Grandfather’s farm. I
remember the aroma, color and textures, at his barn, and how I fell
in love. To this day, each piece of reclaimed barn wood takes me
back to my favorite place. When I paint, I reflect on the fragment
of Kentucky history, in front of me, a piece of wood that is
potentially older than the state itself. Each piece is from a
structure that I am certain had immeasurable sentimental value to
the people on whose land it once stood. As the barns are taken
apart, so is a piece of the owner’s heart. But, to know that the
wood can be saved and given a new life, through painting, brings me
such happiness. I hope you will enjoy it, too.
